Feedback from speakers, delegates, abstract presenters and sponsors confirmed that the event was of the highest international standard, and that the time is right for an annual meeting bringing together the expertise of the medical, nutritional and scientific communities in Australia and New Zealand. Nutritional medicine is strongly evidence-based, drawing on the latest biomedical science and research to develop new treatment approaches to disease and illness and importantly, for primary prevention. At the heart of this approach to healthcare, are the emerging fields of epigenetics and nutrigenomics, through which we can advance our understanding of the building blocks of life, and our ability to influence our predisposition to disease or illness and our children’s genetic inheritance. The themes of the 2012 conference will be Gastrointestinal Metabolism, Mood & Anxiety Disorders, and Hormonal Regulation & Modulation, once again reflecting important areas in primary healthcare and scientific research. Frontiers in science and clinical application in each of the theme areas will also be presented in the pre-conference Epigenetics & Nutrigenomics workshop. Once again, an impressive line-up of recognised leaders in science, research and clinical application will be invited from Australia, New Zealand and overseas to explore the conference themes and their inter-relationship, along with key public health, political and industry figures. There will also be co-ordinated media exposure leading up to the event. In keeping with the high profile of the conference, Dr Norman Swan, of the ABC Health Report, will return as Master of Ceremonies and to facilitate the panel discussions. We extend a warm invitation to join us at what we believe will be an informative, intellectually challenging, and clinically important event.
