Each year, 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental health condition, with almost one in 2 experiencing a mental health condition during their lifetime. In this webinar you will hear from Integrative Consultant Psychiatrist Dr Karan Sinha as he explores the question – Why is mental illness so prevalent in modern society?
Dr Karan talks about the role that nutrition, exercise and the power of mindfulness play in managing our emotional health. Dr Karan believes medications can be helpful in more severe conditions and for short periods of time but to fully recover and heal from a mental illness, he believes in the use of other approaches. These include guided meditation, introspection, self-compassion, assertiveness and physical exercise.
You will learn about:
• The roles and limitations of psychiatry and medication
• The roles and many variations of psychology
• A solution: A compassion focused therapy based on ‘Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs’
