The ACNEM 2024 Annual Conference: The Interplay Between Longevity and Autoimmunity brings together renowned experts to explore the latest research in longevity and autoimmunity.

In pre-disposed individuals, immune ageing can lead to frank autoimmune disease, manifesting with chronic inflammation and irreversible tissue damage. Emerging data support the concept that autoimmunity results from ageing-induced failure of fundamental cellular processes, genomic instability, loss of mitochondrial fitness, failing proteostasis, dwindling lysosomal degradation and inefficient autophagy.1

The conference shines a spotlight on the underlying mechanisms of both autoimmunity and longevity. Many of the dietary and lifestyle interventions and evidence-based treatment protocols designed to prevent and reverse autoimmunity are the same approaches used to enhance longevity.

Our speakers, including thought leaders such as Dr. Terry Wahls, Dr. Jason Hawrelak, Dr. Christabelle Yeoh, Paul Taylor, Dr. Denise Furness, Dr. Mark Donohoe, Prof. Gustavo Duque, Dr. Nicole Bijlsma, Dr. Elizabeth Steels, Erica Smith and Dr. Michael Thomsen unravel the sometimes-unexpected connections between gut health, mitochondrial health, hormones, genetics, fasting, autophagy, diet, stress, inflammation, movement, hormesis and autoimmune reversal and longevity pathways.

  • Understand how diet, lifestyle and nutritional supplementation can reverse debilitating auto-immune conditions with world authority, Dr. Terry Wahls
  • Discover the latest research on fasting and its implications for autoimmunity and longevity

The ACNEM 2024 Annual Conference explores the latest thinking, a broad range of expertise, research, insight and practical protocols to improve patient outcomes.

MEET THE PRESENTERS

Dr. Mark Donohoe

MBBS, FACNEM, FASLM
Dr. Mark Donohoe, ACNEM President, graduated from Sydney University in 1980, opening his medical practice on the Central Coast New South Wales in 1983. The patients of his new practice led him into the fields of Environmental Medicine and Nutritional Medicine. He was awarded fellowships from the Australian Society of Environmental Medicine (ASEM), the Australasian College of Nutritional & Environmental Medicine (ACNEM), and more recently the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine (ASLM). Over his 38 years in practice, Mark has specialised in the fields of chronic fatigue syndrome, environmental and occupational toxicology, and sensory sensitivities including multiple chemical sensitivity. Mark works with his wife, Fiona, at Mosman Integrative Medicine in Sydney. While he focuses on causes of illnesses and diseases, Fiona manages the healthcare side of the practice where she and other natural healthcare practitioners provide consultations and classes in yoga, Qi gong, pregnancy yoga, meditation, mindfulness and movement. Mark and Fiona work together with an underlying philosophy that health in all its forms is the best prevention of disease, and that most disease is best managed by clean air, clean food, clean water and a commitment to a diet and lifestyle that is health enhancing.
