Re-examining the often-underappreciated relationships between sugars, lipids and proteins, how they are metabolised, and the inevitable consequences of the body energy economy can provide deeper insights into the fundamental mechanisms that drive much of our modern chronic metabolic disease burden, and by extension longevity.
Research into a number of novel nutrient and botanical compounds continues to show increasing promise for their ability to modify these processes. This presents opportunities to augment the existing conventional diet and lifestyle advice that often faces limitations (such as from compliance, access, understanding, efficacy, and beyond) when implemented alone.
Harnessing some of these additional supportive strategies, both with and without associated diet and lifestyle interventions, may help support practitioners looking to improve clinical outcomes and the long-term functional quality and quantity of life for their patients.
