The incidence of chronic disease and ill health is increasing across all age groups globally, with the concentration and number of toxic compounds in the environment having been identified as an important contributing factor.

Primary exogenous environmental toxins include heavy metals, persistent organic pollutants, solvents and plasticisers, with evidence suggesting that toxin burden is likely to become an increasing health problem in the future.

To support detoxification from environmental toxins optimally, we need to consider which toxins are of greatest concern to the individual, as well the individual’s health status as this can influence their ability to detoxify and eliminate toxins. This presentation will provide insights into the various environmental toxins, as well as treatment strategies to address a range of different environmental toxins including heavy metals, persistent organic pollutants, solvents, plastics and mycotoxins.
